GOLFSCAPES
Collection
RE: GOLFSCAPES, an series of acrylic paintings, drawings, prints and digital prints.
Jack Cassady’s “Golfscapes”, is about color, space, sport, and man-made environments.
The concept for the series originated in 1994. The artist was interested in landscape and had a sub series of the “Urban Landscape”, (High Park, Toronto), he wanted to continue in landscape but from another angle. In the 90’s golf had become one of the most popular sports in the world, baby boomers (in which Jack is one) were coming to golf for a number of reasons: exercise, competition, nature, and business; but mostly for comradely.
Painting this series brought back memories of Jack’s 1st round of golf with his father, of taking lessons from the Golf Pro, the amazing courses he has played, or dreamed of playing, of the slice or hook he was trying to get rid of, the friendships made and lost. But mostly it’s the enjoyment of the space, depth, and color of the landscape.
Painting is like Golf; you are always trying to improve your game.
A number of works in this series are in private collections, some works were commissioned, and the series has been exhibited in Toronto
