The Nebula Series
Collection
RE: The Nebula Series, a series of acrylic paintings on canvas & board and Relief, Intaglio and Lithography prints.
Jack Cassady’s “The Nebula series”, is a continually developing Action-Interaction to the Primordial Sense. Psychoanalytic Jargon. The series is about color, texture, optical illusion, and the interplay of light, symbolism, and the metaphysical landscape.
The concept for this series started in the winter of 1982. The artist was very interested in experimenting with color, in the way of Joseph Albers, Nolan, Rothko, Motherwell, Johns, and Bush. The artist was also interested in the art of the sixty’s OP Artists and the composition of Picasso, Matisse, Cezanne, Miro, Ernst and Dali. At the time the artist was reading a lot of Science Fiction novels and texts of psychology. Jack’s previous series dealt with the use of stencils so he continued using the stencil in the Nebula Series, which gives uniformity to the series. The artist used this series as a diary of sorts, with emotions as color etc.
There are over 50 paintings and over 20 prints in the series and have been exhibited around the world, won prizes and are in public, private and corporate collections.
