Portraits

RE: Portraits, an on going series of acrylic paintings.
Jack Cassady’s “ Portraits”, are about Celebrities, Personalities, Heroes, and Politicians’ that were important in Jack’s life/education.
The concept for this series originated in 2000. The artist does not remember where he found the photo of Marilyn Monroe (some newspaper), but he carried it around in his notebook for a few years before he did anything with it. One day Jack decided it was time and started the paintings, taking his cue from the earlier series “ Victims of the Gun & Einstein, Einstein”. One painting led to another and so on, Jack may still continue with the series at a later date.
Why the Portraits, well Jack wanted to celebrate some of the famous people that influenced him as a child/teen/adult, in film, music, literature, science and politics
This series is a humorous/whimsical portrayal of the above mentioned.
The paintings are large. A few of the paintings are in private collections, and the series has been exhibited in Toronto.
